Fishery Rules

Carp Care

  • Please dip and rinse your cradle, landing net and weigh sling before setting up.
  • When carp fishing please use a carp cradle i.e. either a boat shaped one which is padded and also has padded sides or one that has legs.
  • 42" or larger soft landing net.
  • Container of water stood nearby for wetting fish.
  • Strictly NO carp sacks or retaining sacks.
  • Please have all the equipment you need for weighing and photography before catching fish.
  • Please break down landing net when carrying fish to cradle and use carp care products where necessary.


  • Day Ticket Lake: Two rods per person.
  • No.2 Lake: Three rods per person.
  • No thin wire or bent hooks. Wide gape, straight shank only. Barbless only. Not barbed hooks with nipped down barbs. Max. size 6.
  • No leadcore or leaders (inc. safezone ones).
  • Rigs must be safe and leads must drop off easily.
  • No Ronnie Rigs.
  • No braided main lines.
  • Min. line strength of 10lb (can be less for roach fishing etc) max. of 15lb (not double strength types).    


  • No pre-baiting or excessive feeding.
  • No trout pellets, peanuts, tiger nuts or goo.


  • No leaving rods unattended. If you need to socialise reel your rods in.
  • No wading in either lakes.
  • No litter. Please use the bins provided. Bin bags are available from the fishery shop. Please cut and discard used line in bins.
  • No cutting back vegetation without permission.
  • No pressurised or bright lamps.
  • No boats or bait boats.
  • No fires.
  • BBQs are allowed, place above the ground and when socialising keep noise levels low.
  • No excess alcohol. 
  • No drugs.
  • No swimming.
  • No bivvy mallets.
  • Strictly NO Laser pens.
  • No dogs.

Island Swim and Peg 32

  • Max of two people on either the Island Swim or Peg 32. This can either be two anglers per swim or one angler and one non-angler per swim.
  • Please use the lifejackets provided when using the boats to get to and from these swims.  

Additional No.2 Lake Rules

  • Maximum of one week's stay on a swim.  
  • No casting across to other swims even when vacant. On 'Split' you can cast to the edge of the lilies.
  • The renewal of your membership is not automatic and depends entirely on your behaviour and respect for the rules. As usual you will receive a reminder in the post or by email 2-4 weeks before the due date. If this is not paid in full before or on the renewal date, we will assume that you don't wish to rejoin. 

Pike Fishing

We allow pike fishing from 1st November - 1st April.

  • Please dip and rinse weighing/landing equipment/unhooking mat
  • Dead baits only.
  • No spinning.
  • No lures.
  • No braided main lines.   

General Coarse Fishing

  • Please dip and rinse weighing/landing equipment/unhooking mat. 
  • Barbless hooks.
  • No cat or dog meat.
  • No  keepnets.


Anyone trying to remove fish from these waters will be prosecuted, we operate 24 hour surveillance.

No transferring fish between lakes.

Please record all fish caught in catch book in tackle shop or by sending us your catch details/ photos by email/ Facebook Messenger. We would appreciate your support with this, as we need regular updates to check on growth rates and health.  

Anyone breaking the rules or behaving in a way to upset other anglers' will be asked to leave and where applicable their membership revoked.

All anglers' should be in possession of a valid EA license. 

Weather conditions and subsequent events such as flooding and freezing are natural occurrences beyond the control of Catch 22 Fishing Centre and as such no refund will be payable or future discount be provided by Catch 22 Fishing Centre for periods when the lakes are unfishable.

This applies to all permits and season tickets issued on both lakes.
